MTR + Richie Hardcore: take on porn culture in address to young men

Confronting the harmful impacts of porn on boys: and encouraging them to aspire to healthy relationships

When I first heard the name ‘Richie Hardcore’ I thought maybe he was an ex porn ‘star’ now going ‘hard’ against porn. Turned out it was his ring (fighting) name and related to a sub-genre of punk music. A New Zealander, Richie is a personal trainer, Muay Thai champion, kickboxing/martial arts coach and speaker on social constructs of masculinity, violence, sexuality, porn harms and relationships. I joined Richie in presenting to 300 Year 11 boys at St Joseph’s College Geelong last week.

Here’s a brief interview I did with him just before the community session in the evening. It is so encouraging when men like Richie step up to the plate to confront what porn culture is doing to our young women and men.

And here’s how Richie reflected on the video on Instagram
