When pictures of the female players with full-forward breasts were splashed everywhere following Legends (aka Lingerie) Football League games in Sydney and Melbourne this month, it underscored what has been a losing year for women.
Little publicity is given to women’s sport in general. Did you even know there are female gridiron teams, where players wear full protective clothing like men? But attention wasn’t a problem in this case. ”It’s far better than watching netball,” wrote Aaron Langmaid in Melbourne’s Herald Sun.
The high ratio of photos to text online was significant. Camera angles captured bikini-topped flesh and skimpy undies in reports that failed to even mention the score. Women’s bodies were on display, treated as a spectacle.
There were few advances for women in other public areas either. Australia now has fewer women in cabinet than the government of Afghanistan.
The Human Rights Commission has shown that sexual harassment remains widespread in Australian workplaces and that attempts to address it have stalled. The Bureau of Statistics presents similar disturbing figures on the harassment and stalking of women.
Victims of sexual harassment and assault continue to be blamed for what is done to them. The Victorian parole board review found that deadly mistakes had been made in the release of women’s assailants, leaving them free to strike again with ferocity. Read more here.

whats really sad is the media bypassed the womens a grade soccer match between sydney and perth at Kogarah today.
It is men and their male supremacist institutions which continue to promote misogynistic lies that women aren’t human but merely exist to satiate mens’ incessant need for ‘sexual gratification.’
Note the comments section accompanying the article published in Sun-Herald was overwhelmingly male all ‘singing from the same hymn sheet.’ None of these males addressed the issues of pandemic male hatred to women in this article, instead these men claimed ‘men are the real victims’ because as usual focus has to always be on men and their mythical claims. This is typical mansplaining behaviour.
All the misogynistic ‘reforms’ being initiated by Australia’s newly elected government are about curtailing women’s human rights because only men should be accorded ‘rights’ not women.
Men’s war on women and the tiny fundamental challenges to male domination over women do not just exist in Australia because it is happening globally.
Yet malestream media mens’ powerful propaganda machine continues to promote mens’ lies that women aren’t human because women only exist to be mens’ slaves which is why intimate male violence against women and their children continues to escalate.
Still never mind the amount of male tax payers’ money saved must be astronomical because misogynistic Australian government has decided to cancel services which specifically focus on providing support to women who have been subjected to intimate male partner violence.
Hmm I wonder what wasteful scheme Australia’s male government will create in order to spend the money saved by not funding services which specifically support women?
